Les jean-C1 oral, venez discuter en MP :ok:

I mean I don't see why we'd have to go through DMs for that. It's just fine on here. Let's see it.

If you feel like speaking here, that's fair enough :oui:

The entire point of this thread, I assume, is to either help people with a lower level improve, or simply to boast about one's level. If discussion only happens through DMs, I'm not sure it's going to help anyone whatsoever...

In the back of my mind, I was contemplating arranging a Discord voice session in order for us to express ourselves. I can't send the link over here because some lurkers might come out of the blue and delete my post.

Why do you shy away from speaking? You have to get to the bottom of it. I'm here to help you :ok:

I guess that my English is far away from the perfection, but is good enough and higher than the average around French people.
Of course I may do some mistakes but a native speaker would understand anything that I am trying to say right? Or is my English bad as fuck for you after reading what I wrote?
Guys, please tell me. + I guess daily life conversation is fine but my business English is really bad.

No I mean it's clearly understandable here. Generally I guess the issue people have isn't so much about written English, but oral English.

By the way, just to help you improve :
"to do mistakes" is incorrect. It's "to make mistakes".

Thanks for the correction my khey :hap:
Did I made another mistake somewhere else?
I bet that my pronounciation is horrible but my written English is understandable for most of the daily life discution subjects.

Unless it’s not something about kitchen-cooking related discution.

I mean, if you really want me to, I can sorta dissect the comment your previously posted :

(would be better to instead say something like "Or would you say, after reading what I wrote, that my English is bad as fuck?")

Seriously, I agree that your (at least written) English is definitely better than that of the average Frenchman. The next step would be to sort of, you know, have an oral conversation or something like that. But otherwise, carry on. You're on the right path :).

That's exactly what I've mentioned, hence the importance of putting one's English oral skills to the test :oui:

Sure, I'm down. As long as it's not completely wack. Just DM it to everyone here who seems to want to practice and then see where it goes.

That's simply incorrect. C2 is generally the level that native speakers exhibit, and on top of that it's objectively defined in the CEFRL, meaning it's also reachable for a non-native, as long as you tick all the boxes. Feels like you're really trying to sound edgy or something, or cynical at best.

Yeah, these words work on a case by case basic. For example, you can say "Englishman" for English people, but you wouldn't say "Britishman", instead you'd say "Briton". As long as you don't say stuff like "a French", then it's okay.

thank you for improving my vocabulary :coeur:

All good, my key.
