There seems to be some misunderstanding about why Kaspersky is getting banned, drawing parallels to the ban of Chinese mobile devices. Such bans are not happening because they are concerned about security threats. Such problems are already mitigated by banning the use of this software/hardware in sensitive settings, and broadly banning these tools is not an effective solution (arguably would make things worse). The main reason they would be banned from civilian hands is because they prevent the use of domestic "tools" against citizens. Huawei phones? They do not give the FBI exclusive backdoors which are required for mobile devices in the US. Kaspersky antivirus? They do not whitelist government spyware (famously, CIA/Mossad's stuxnet).
