THE ART OF DETACHMENT
What we don't realize is that when we let go of someone, we're not just letting them go. We're letting our old selves go, too. Detaching ourselves from the identity that we associated with initially feels daunting, messy, and heavy-it is an act of grieving no one prepared us for-but it is also liberating.
Know that we no longer have to be someone who settles. We no longer need to accept the bare minimum. We no longer have to take in emotional baggage that doesn't serve us. We no longer have to witness false promises. We no longer have to feel let down. We no longer have to unlock our phone several times a day in hopes of receiving an apology. We no longer have to tell our friends, « Yeah, but it’s different this time, » when in fact, it was not. We no longer have to sit in our tub on a Sunday evening with rivers flowing from our eyelids, where even the blistering hot water doesn't numb the pain.
When we detach from that identity, we will see all that we truly are. When we place our energy on letting go of that old version of ourselves, our grip on them will release too.
En espérant que ça aide quelqu’un d’autre.
