Just like always, it always comes back to the money.
You should look into who just bought Ukraine out from under the Ukrainian people then.
capture Ukraine鈥檚 natural gas

Ukraine's gas reserves are some 3% or less of what Russia already owns, no one seriously thinks Russia is after that, not even US think tanks like RAND here.
Russia is just doing what鈥檚 best for Russia: trying to maintain anti-NATO borders
Now you're on to something, but you have to ask an important follow up question: Why now? What has changed that caused Russia to mobilize when they did?

There is no lack of evidence that shows the US both openly and covertly precipitated this entire debacle, engaged in regime change (why do so many people find it hard to believe the country that does the most regime change globally did a regime change in Ukraine?), which started a civil war that almost immediately became a proxy war, armed, trained and otherwise prepared Ukraine for a full on war with Russia. It's also no secret that the US has had Russia in its sights for regime change and/or 'containment' for quite some time now. This was not some random "evil putler invaded Ukraine for no reason", all the evidence seems to indicate that Russia is responding to aggressive geopolitical moves from the US and it's subordinate imperialist states. This doesn't make Russia good, their stated reasons for the invasion are BS of course, they don't care about "denazifying" or "protecting the citizens of Donbass" - they care about retaining their sovereignty, geostrategic security and territorial integrity in the face of an even bigger monster (The US Empire) which is and has been increasingly aggressive about its intentions.
Just like always, it always comes back to the money.
Now we're talking, Ukraine's foreign dictated privatization campaign is one of the most aggressive in modern history, wealthy US and western investors can initiate the privatization of any Ukrainian state or municipal asset, and at bargain barrel pricing even

Here's the website if you too would like to buy some piece of Ukraine out from under the Ukrainian people's feet while they're being sent to die for US geopolitical goals and a favorable investment climate for western capital.
https://privatization.gov.ua/en/
They are not dying for Ukrainian freedom and independence, they are dying for western capital, they're dying to contain Russia and they're dying for the US's desperate attempts to contain China (which weakening Russia is a large part of that puzzle).
And even more, the US/NATO and its wealthy western corporations want to own Russia's vast mineral wealth for themselves.
It's clear when we look at the money who the largest beneficiary of this conflict is, and it's clear it isn't Russia.
So if we want the war to end, it's not just Russia that needs to change its course, its the other side, the US isn't backing down from challenging Russia's current existence, they're not giving the Ukrainian people it's public property back, the US and western investors are not gonna stop until they own the breadbasket of Europe
This is capital at its most horrifying, most disgusting and most vile machinations possible. Stealing a country out from a peoples while simultaneously sending those peoples into a meatgrinder to make a quick buck and advance its own geopolitical goals, to concoct such a powerful propaganda smoke screen around their own actions so they can point out the other participant in the immiseration of these peoples as the lone "crazy" actor bent on world domination while having a GDP lower than California's (before the start of the conflict), a far cry from the combined nearly $40 trillion that the US and NATO countries have.
This is why any anti-war take that is just "Russia go home" isn't antiwar, it's just, at best, a prolonging whatever fucked up mess the US has in store for the Russian people, and at worst, calling for more aid to Ukraine is literally wishing for more war, more money for US military industrialists and contractors and more dead Ukrainians. We need peace and the US is largely the reason war started in the first place and largely behind blocking peace talks.
Shit is complicated, and incredibly fucked up and infuriating the more you look into it.
