C'est trop dur à regarder.
Le blancos qui lâche un "inchallah" à 12:07 :rire:

During the Liverpool vs Arsenal ending in 3 1 for Arsenal, Havertz and Odegaard looked to press Konaté and Van Dijk man to man. Mc ALlistair acting as single pivot. But with Jorginho closing him down and Saka tucking in, they would close down Liverpool's progression. But Gravenberch and Jones were free so Rice and Jorginho looked to cover them, allowing a free pass for Mc Allistair. Gomez was happy to invert at times to help Mc Allistair in case. However Arsenal was much more agressive and Gomez acted as a press target for Arsenal. So Rice would press Gomez knowing that Gomez wouldn't not be technically good enough to turn and find Gravenberch or Jones. So as the game progressed, Gomez stayed more as a traditionnal winger, inverting much less. Jones being a double pivot now being he was less a press target than Gomez as he was a miedfield so better at this. Trent was playing more as traditionnal fullbakc rather than inverting, allowing Gakpo and Jota operating more centrall as Klopp wanted to overload that centrel positions. It meant that the centrebacks could not press that much as it would leave gap for a long pass behind them especially with Liverpool's players rotating, making them unpredictable. As a result, the back 4 tucked into a extremly narrow defensive line with Saka and Martinelli backing up defending quite narrow at times. But as Trent was looking to make his move out wide to receive, it would force Arsenal's defense backward to not allow him to attack the box and cross. 10. Liverpool took risks since with that shape it only left 2 centrebacks back so if Arsenal gained the ball back Martinelli would set into the spaces vacated by Trent and Arsenal would hit on these spaces. As the game progressed, Zinchenko acted less as a double pivot but more as a traditionnal fullback as Jorginho and Rice were forming the double pivot. With Trent pushing up, Arteta knew that Liverpool would form a lot of times a traditionnal back 4. With Zinchenko operating wide, Havertz would join the miedfield box instead. Martinelli as a result would come more centrally at times.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KJ6e3p7qZKE&t=148s Tactical Analysis : France 2 - 1 England | England Unlucky To Lose? | YouTube Football Made Simple Tactical Analysis : France 2 - 1 England | England Unlucky To Lose? | When England had the ball, France operated in a loopsided 4 4 2 with Mbappé operaring on the left handside even ahead of Giroud sometimes who stayed deep on Rice when needed. Rabiot would tuck in left hand side position with Griezmann dropping deeper into the miedfield. This could vary into a more agressive press with Giroud coming into Maguire with Griezmann pressing Rice instead The miedfield 4 was quite narrow and tucked in with Rabiot being the widest left and Dembelé the widest right. England always built with a minimum of a back 3 with Walker tucking on often in the right side. It gave to England some security against Mbappé as Walker could often keep up with his pace on transitions. England had hard time to penetrate right throught the center of the pitch. But they were looking using the wide areas into their advantage. On the left, England's build up was flexible. it could look to a 3 2 5 with Bellingham pushing into the left half space. And if Shaw stayed deeper, Henderson would push on the right. ALternativly, Bellingham could stay deep alongside Rice with Foden moving inside, allowing Shaw to push higher down the left hand side. We saw England had more sucess with Shaw starting deeper as Dembelé to pick him during these situations. Foden stayed quite wide and Koundé remained touch tight on him for the most part. So FOden would often drop deep to give Shaw a passing option. It would draw Koundé out of his position for Bellingham to go into this space created. But Tchoaméni as the deepest miedfieldre, was quite disciplined at tracking these runs. Another advantage is that it would force France to come across the pitch in order to compensage, especially if Kane tucked in the England's left as well. 11. Rabiot would be often dragged across in order to compensage, meaning that Hernandez would have to tuck into the pitch as well. This was made worse by the fact that Mbappé tended to stay up on the pitch rather than tracking back. That allowed England to often switch from the left to the right to Saka was found himself in 1 v 1 situations against Hernandez. In this situation, Henderson would often bring support Saka either by underlapping either by overlappin. Bellingham could also makes runs from across the pitch, looking to provide an option. England's default shape is that their miedfield was mainly man to man. So England often worked the ball to Saka to be against Hernandez. As the game went on, Rabiot being in the half central miedfield half winger position and Mbappé staying back and not really tracking back, Henderson began to identify the right side of Englans as the zone with the most spaces. So he tended to shift into this region, often helped by Kane who was willing to drop in front France's defenders into the miedfield, making it more difficult for Rabiot to immediatly commit to Henderson. This would allow Saka and Henderson to have a 2 v 1 situation against Hernandez. But when Kane stayed high on the pitch, Saka could move into more inside positions and provide an option into the miedfield. With France sitting fairly deep, England struggled to create chances. When France was on possession, Griezmann and Rabiot tended to push much higher than Tchouaméni, being the single pivot. 12. The way Southgate initially used his wingers when defending put England at risk. Initially, Englandtaked Kane to press one of the centerbacks while France stayed deep. And Saka would have to come out from the wide to press the other centerback. But that means having your fullback, Walker, having potential 1 v 1 against Mbappé. But adding Hernandez who is one of the best attacking fullback in the world, in 2 v 1 is even more risky. So it was not the best chooice by Southgate and they were lucky enough to not be punished. So Southgate changed that and Saka was often seeing tracking Hernandez Instead when it was the moment to apply pressure, Henderson was taked to push high and force France back. As Foden picked on Koundé on the right, Dembelé, instead of being high where he could be easily be picked up by Shaw, dropped a little deeper, while Griezmann would push into these half spaces. This caused problems for England since if Shaw close down Griezmann, this would give Dembelé the momentum on his right wing when he drove up the pitch. That would force Maguire to play out of position. As Kane couldn't press both cb in the same time, Varane and Upamecano were instructed to move high up on the pitch, one of them by time, to create passing lines. Southgate adapted to this by having Foden watching for Dembelé more and allowing Shaw to track Griezmann in better conditions.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7isLSQBfhY Tactical Analysis : Manchester City 1-1 Real Madrid | How Ancelotti Beat Pep | When City started from deep they used a more traditionnal back 4 with Ederson as the fourth defender and Akanji pushing high. When Akanji stayed in his traditionnal zone, Real Madrid's press looked like a loopsided 4 3 3. City got stopped playing back infield with Rodrygo and Vinicus picking up the centrebacks with Bellingham marking Rodri. But committing many mens in the left meant that City could exploit the right side more often. If Valverde close down Gvardiol, City find themselve in 3 v 2 situation in the miedfield. In more controlled phases,, City used their traditionnal 3 box 3, to look to overload Real Madrid's backline as well as his miedfield. His defensive shape shifted from loopside 4 3 3 to a much narrow 4 4 2 that could in fact look to a 4 2 4.with the front 4 operating narrow, giving them plenty of advantages. The narrow gaps between the front 4 meant that playing throught the central zones was almost impossible. Vinicius and Bellingham covered City's double pivots which were crucial for their build up. Kross and Camavinga tracked De Bruyne and Silva in a more oriented man manner Guardiola's answers consisted of De Bruyne shifting out wide to receive outside the narrow block of Madrid. Kross as a result had more freedom to follow De Bruyne out wide. As a result, Akanji was given more attacking responsability by Pep Guardiola. Akanji has to move from VInicius's marking into a more attacking miedfield position. Kross was left with a dilemma. Either track back Akanji but let De Bruyne more space, either mark De Bruyne and let more freedom to Akanji which was often donee. Rodri could find often Akanji in the miedfield. But Akanji being a centreback meant that even if he received the ball in good situations, he was not prepared to tunr his body and attack real madrid's goal. 1. It allowed Madrid to recover just in time. Mendy being dragged by Foden meant that Akanji could try to find De Bruyne in the half spaces where he could make crosses in dangerous positions. On the left side, Valverde could look more agressive at closing down Gvardiol but then it created opportunities as Silva was looking for these kind of pockets of spaces. As for Grealish he faced Carvajal in 1 v 1 but couldn't find Haaland in his preferred back post during crosses. But an other option was a half space run by Bernardo Silva. City got dangerous situations this way. With Doku coming instead of Grealish as 1 v 1 was his speciality, Valverde came back more to support Carvajal. Being better in 1 v 1 meant they could find opportunities. It's what lead to City's goal. Real Madrid still stayed dangerous in transitions because City pushed their backline extremly high. But the pace of Real Madrid attackers meant that City would drop deeper whatever they tried to run behind them. This would create massive gaps between the defense and the miedfield. When Real Madrid was in possession, they looked for long balls to expose City's high line, especially passing to Valverde and Bellingham as these 2 were physically strong enough to cause problems to their opponents and win either first either second balls. Real Madrid's centerbacks would split wide either side of the goalkepper. With De Bruyne and Silva closing down Camavinga and Kross, the obvious outlet was Rudiger. However Grealish would often try to press both Rudiger and Carvajal on their right side of the pitch. If Grealish doesn't recover in time, responsability of Carvajal fell on Gvardiol while Dias would shift to cover Valverde. This way, it could allow Real Madrid to have 3 or 4 v 3 situations, exposing City's backline
Chelsea often have difficulties to find the spaces between the lines.as Gallagher and Caceido, the 2 pivots, woudln't push forward consistently. As a result, majority of their chances came from crosses delivered by wingbacks. The fact that these crosses were delivered by Gusto on the right and Chillwell or Cucurella on the left meant the opposition could quickly predict these types of chances. A lot of times, Gusto have no support out wide, which make it difficult to progress the ball throught the center of the pitch. The introduction of Cole Calmer as a cam allowed Fernandez to play his role more as a natural holding miedfield alongside Caicedo. Even if this partnership is not perfect, with Cole Palmer between the lines, Chelsea had finally someone who can be the link between the miedfield and the attack, while also being a constant goalscoring threat. Formation shifted into 4 2 3 1 and the introduction of inverted wingers with Sterling and Mudryk on the left and Madueke on the right mean they had more options out wide. It allows the fullback overlapping. The best teams of the league are varying the way they are creating chances to make them more unpredictable. While CHelsea often relied on crosses from the side of the pitch. When it comes to Chelsea'a sttack, you can see some selfish's moments durant crucial points of the matches. Fullbacks at the end of thhe 2023 2024 season tend to make crosses from the edge of the box and bot further out wide while wingers go more inside alongside Palmer. Chelsea has produced their best matches against top 6 of the league. That's because against teams that pressed high, spaces are lft behind. Jackson is not a good finisher but his link up play and hold up play is a key part on how Chelsea is looking to move up on the pitch. To adress their difficulties against low blocks, they had, they did some subtil changes in central rotations with Palmer's movements being coordinated with Fernandez and Gallaghers's ones. 1. One formation that stood apart from the rest is the 3 4 2 1. Among the top 5 leagues during the 2022 2023 season, it had 52% of wins for 1,6 goals per game on average. Aotonio Conte for Spurs, Christophe Galtier for PSG and José Mourinho for AS Roma used it. It's one of the most versatile line up a manager can use. It's a slight variation of the 3 4 3 whose origin can be placed back to the 1930s with Vittorio Pozzo with Italy and Herbert Chapman in England. But It wasn't until Johan Cruyff's total football formation that the formations tarted to gain serious traction. These last years, this formationa lso had some success, including Thomas Tuchel's Chelsea when they won the UCL in 2021. We also can talk about Dortmund in 2018 or Antonio Conte's Inter Milan back then, alternating with the 3 5 2 line up in the Serie A. The 3 4 2 1 features 1 gk, 3 defenders, 2 center miedfielders, 2 wingbacks, 2 inside forwards and 1 stircker. With all these modern systems, the goalkepper need to be good with his feet. The 3 4 2 1 formation is one that can quickly create overloads outwide. So he must be able to pick out the wingbacks with a dinked pass but also short passes to get the move going. PSG's Donnaruma is a good example with his great short and long passes accuracy while also being a fantastic shoot stopper. The 3 center backs are the foundation of this formation. They will need to be strong physically but also will need to have the ability to breka the pressing line either by carrying the ball forward in the miedfield either by a key pass into the center. The middle center back will need to provide cover if the wide center backs push up. However his more central position allow him to better dictate play and decide which side to move them. A good example was Chelsea back line last years with Koulibaly, Thiago Silva and Fofana. Silva sit deeper than the 2 others, allowing them to take position in half spaces attepting to pick take out the wing backs, center miedfielders or inside forward. Silva's center position mean that it was his chooice to pick the side of the team he want to move. He could quickly pick out the offensive set of the players with a ball over the top. Next up the 2 center mieds are crucial both during the build up and for adding support in attack. Their positionning must be coordinated with 1 moving forward and the other sitting and covering. They will need to have excellent link up play especially with the wingbacks and inside forwards and will often find themselves on the edge of the box. So having a decent shoot will also be a huge bonus. Next up the wingbacks are the main providers of width for the team. They will be required to defend an attack consistently and have excellent delivery into the box. Against thouger opponents they may shift alongside the 3 centerbacks to form a back 5 in an attempt to to cover the space out wide. A great example was 2022 2023 season with Hakimi and Mendes. They ranked among the highest in the ligue 1 for progressive passes and create an issue for opponent giving width to PSG's attack and linking up well with the front 3 consisting back then of Messi, Mbappé and Neymar. Next up is the 2 inside forwards from where the formation creates often the most chances. THeir positionning if often between and defense and miedfield lines. So they need to be excellent at recenving the ball on the turn to immediatly attack the backline. They can be used to add width switching the formation into a 3 4 3 or can add central support and link up with the striker. 1. Finally the lone striker is the focal point for this formation. He will need to have excellent hold up play and the ability to control the ball under pressure and lay it off to the 2 inside forwards. It's comon for the striker in the line up to act as a false 9, link up play in the center with the inside forwards occupying the spaces he has vacated. Last season 2022 2023 tottenham used this with Son and Kulusevsky as inside forwards and Kane as lone striker. Son and Kulusevsky's incredible technical ability and pace mean they can receive the ball in tight spaces and immediatly attack the backline to either shoot from distance either feed the ball into Kane. The formation creates a lot of passing lane with 2 diamond shapes outwide. And also a tight triangle between the front 3. On the attack it can quickly overload the backline with 5 offensive players with 2 centre miedfielders on the edge of the box to shoot or rotate possession, transofrming the formation into a 3 2 5. While defensivly, the compact pentagon shape in the center means it often forces to play outwide where the wingbacks can close down any potential threat. And the formation can retreat into a solid 5 4 1 formation system. So it's a formation that can get quickly the preper hand if properly executed. When you observe the build up you can see the freedom it gives PSG used to have only one centre miedfielder for the build up forming a wide diamond shape and allowing the team to always have outlet options. to the other flank. 1. This means the other center miedfielder and the wings backs formed a line of 3 while the front 3 sit on the front line in a more narrow shape. This instantly creates issues for the opposition. If the ball moves directly on the wingbacks. The opposition fullbacks will need to make a chooice as if they move up to cover they will let more spaces for Messi, Mbappé and Neymar. If the team presses too much, a long pass means there is one miedfielder free in front creating in the center a 3 v 4 situation. But it can be decided to have 2 center miedfielders stay in support witih the wingbacks outw wide. This creates triangle along the pitch. It creates quick passing lanes. But the true advantage comes from the 2 inside forwards since they create a diamond shape as well in their respective side of the pitch. It gives the center back plenty of options for moving the ball forward. If the 9 drop deeper it can quickly creates a 5 v 4 situation on a side of the pitch. To stop this, opposing teams often commit alot of players on the press. In this case the team must be able to quickly rotate in 2. But it's also when entering into the opposition's half that the formation can create a lot of chances. It can quickly gain control of the pitch and box in the opposition. Having 2 wide center backs into the half spaces means there are a lot of channels the opposition need.to cover. It's also high here we can see the main influence of the 2 inside forwards. Their positionning between the lines and the half spaces if a very tricky one to stop. It can leads the opposition into 2 minds. Maybe even worse if the wingbacks push up high creating a front 5 that can quickly disrupt the defensive block. There is a number of teams that may use diferent starting lines. but will often resort to 3 4 2 1 when having possession. During first Xavi's season when Busquets was still here, Busquets often dropped between the 2 centerbacks forming a 3 4 2 1. The wingers moved inside freeing spaces in the flanks for the fullbacks The system exploit gap with coordinated moves from the 2 inside forwards Overloads out wide are the mains treat of this formation with coordinated movements by creating gaps behind the opposition's fullbacks. With a 9 dropping off the backline, it drags a center back and free spaces for the 2 inside forwards centrally. This creates spaces out wide for the wingbacks so the 9 can chip the ball into before making a darting run into the box and finishing off the move. It can look like a 3 2 5 but also a 1 4 5 if the wide center backs are playing higher with the miedfield. The presnece of 3 center backs and 2 center miedfielders mean they can cover any run outside the box and regain possession. When it comes to defensive principles, against a back 4, a inside forward could push up with the help of the striker allowing one of the wingbacks to cover the other fullback and one wingback to form a back 4. 1. Against a back 3, the team can quickly match up man to man and apply pressure. This structure forms a pentagon shape in the center which make difficult for the opposition to move throught. Once the pass is made to the wide center back the team's opposition can force it into a tight spot near the touchline. If the opposition is able to beat the press and moves into the defensive half, this formation can quickly cover all the dangerous spaces by switching into a back 5. With the inside forwards forming a miedfield 4 along the 2 center miedfielders adn the stirker staying at the top for potential transitions. It provide central covers and force the opposition out wide where the team can double up on the wingers with the wingback and inside forward closing off the space. But all of this require talented players and a lot of work from every player on the pitch. First weakness isi that it' a line up that can find itself struggling against a low defensive block given the number of players in the backline. It often results in teams sitting in load block and stopping any cross or passes that come into the center. Althought it has 5 players in the defensive line, it can often find itself rotating the ball on the edge of the box with no player finding space to make the play. For this formation.to be the most dangerous formation, it requires the team moving quickly and vertically. And not allow a team to make itself into a set up. The struggle with counter attacks despite the 3 centerbacks if the quick switch plays. It's a formation that like to have players at proximity of each others. But if opposition quickly move the ball into the other flank it can be quickly exposed as the wingback could find himself i a numerical disadvantage. And if the wingbacks are not very defensive minded and struggle to come back into the defensive line, the opposition will look to exploit the spaces out wide either side of the centerbacks.

Tactics
Explained | Strengths & Weaknesses You probably know that 4 2 3 1 formations are the most popular and comon formations in football. Teams like Man United, Bayern Munich, PSG, AC Milan, Man City often used it. The 2 centerbacks must be good ball playing centerbacks with them building up since the backline. The perfect combo would be a center back able to play quick short passes and an another center back able to play long balls to the offensive players. The fullbacks are crucial and need to have good endurance because they will constantly support attack and defense. They could depending of the
tactic
used be turned into a inverted fullback. They often move along the center meidfielders to stop dangerous counterattacks. Davies and Pavard for Bayern Munich in the 2020 and 2021 years had been exceptionnal in this role for example. Miedfield has 2 defensive miedfielders and 3 offensive miedfielders. The 2 defensive miedfielders must prevent the opposition from reaching the defensive line. They also must move the ball between the lines Goretka and Kimmich were good examples of that. Often, one of the 2 center defensive miedfielders act as a link between the defense and the miedfield or attack and the other is used as a box to box miedfielder. The 3 advanced miedfielders are often the best technically. The 2 wide attacking miedfielders has to be good on 1 v 1 situations. The central attacking meidfielder act as a 10 and must have fantastic precision and must spot any weakness in the oppositio'ns defensive line. The solde striker need to be imposing and able to redirect the balls for the runners of each side. He must help his team maintaining possession when needed and have a good link witht the central advanced miedfielder. The main advantage when attacking is the cover on the pitch with relativly short distances between the players. 1. 2 players will always be outwide, the attacking wide miedfielder and the fullback. The central attacking miedfield can go out wide to provide help. It allow the wide attacking miedfielder to drift inside for the fullback to push hig on the pitch. It's also efficient for the built up since you will see one defensive miedfielder coming between the centerbacks to have the ball. With the fullbacks pushing alongside the other defnesive miedfielder, the formation can turn into a 3 3 3 1. If pressed, the deepest defensive miedfielder must create passing lines and move the ball forward on the pitch to form a 4 diamond with the centerback, the fullback and the other center defensive miedfielder. 2.
