How did Pompeii enter into cultural and artistic history?
The city inspires authors and artists
The events in Pompeii have inspired many authors and artists and so many novels and stories came out . The first of the line is an 1834 novel written by Edward Bulwer-Lytton called The last Days of Pompeii. Intrigued by Karl Briullov’s painting the last Days of Pompeii, Edward Bulwer-Lytton was inspired by it to write his novel, the author describes in his archeological novel a lively little city, who don’t know the disaster she is going to affront. This novel will be adapted 11 times for the cinema. Among other known works we can cite: Arria Marcella by Gauthier or Gradiva by Jensen.
Recently, in 1971, the popular music band Pink Floyd has done a live in the empty amphitheater of the city, to break the codes of crowded concerts like Woodstock and also bring a certain purity to their live.

"a" 1834 novel, pas "an"

"WHO DOESN'T know/expect the disaster that is coming on" (tu peux le formuler autrement mais tu ne mets pas "she", la ville en anglais c'est pas un mot féminin)

We can mention* au lieu de cite
